Minutes of Meeting of Weymouth Board of Commissioners

A meeting of the Weymouth Board of Commissioners was held on March 23rd, 2015 with Commissioners Gaudett, Frizzell and Raymond present. Chair, Commissioner Gaudett called the meeting to order at 7.00 PM .

Prior to the commencement of the regular meeting, a presentation was made by Eben Sabean on behalf of the Weymouth Cadet Corp. They need to vacate their current location by mid April and are requesting the Village Commission to make some space available for their corps. After discussion and a tour of the lower level of the medical centre it was moved by Commissioner Frizzell, Seconded by Commissioner Raymond that the Cadets be permitted to use the unoccupied portion of the lower level including one of the two vacant store rooms, subject to provision for the proposed expansion on the VON rental space. " Motion Carried

Minutes of Meeting of February 9th was approved as circulated on motion by Commissioner Raymond and seconded by Commissioner Frizzell.

Business Arising out of the Minutes:
J & D Electric has installed the Reverse Osmosis
Commissioner Frizzell has been in discussions with the Municipal regarding the garbage issue in Weymouth North.
Commissioner Frizzell has also made contact with NS Power to rectify street light issues.

Financial Reports: An updated financial report was presented by Clerk Treasurer.

Letter from Municipal Finance Corp on funding requirements for coming year
Copy of email read from district physician recruter advising that the Municipality of Digby has agreed to a $50,000 incentive for a 2 year return of service agreement has been offered to Dr. Smith. A decision is expected by March 31st.
Letter from Dr Donald Westby advising of his decision to reduce his level of service effective Apr 1st and to close it completely by October 2015.

New Business:

Commissioner Frizzell is to follow up with NS Power on replacement street light for the one destroyed during Topical storm Arthur in July 2014 in front of the residence of Morton Frankland.
Fire Department have requested to be on the agenda for our next meeting.


Next meeting date will be April 13th, 2015

There being no further business meeting was adjourned at 7:30 on motion Commissioner Raymond 2nd Commissioner Frizzell.
