Minutes of Meeting of Weymouth Board of Commissioners

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Village of Weymouth was held on April 1st 2019 in the meeting room at the Medical Centre with Commissioners Gaudett, Raymond, Frizzell, Doucet and Mullen present. March 4th scheduled meeting was cancelled due to bad weather.

Meeting was called to order by the Chair at 7:00 pm.
First item on the agenda was a presentation for Janet Cromwell on behalf the Weymouth July 1st Committee for financial assistance if paying for newly required liability insurance on order to hole the annual July 1st parade. Following her presentation it was moved by Commissioner Raymond, Seconded by Commissioner Frizzell that "The village commission providing funding to $800 to cover liability insurance", Motion carried

Minutes of the meeting of Feb 4th, 2019, were approved as presented on motion by Commissioner Doucet and seconded by Commissioner Mullen.

Business Arising out of the Minutes:
-Chair Gaudett has had further discussion with Clare Seamless Gutters with regard to however to divert roof drains away from the building to reduce chance of flooding..
-Clerk has yet to determine who installed the heat pumps in the Ag office side of the medical centre. Promises by next meeting.
-Clerk as yet to review water issue that was brought to our attention by Morton Frankland.
-Circumstances surrounding the departure were once again discussed. (see new business) .

Correspondence:
- letter from Nova Scotia Environment advising of new regulations for lead content limited (decreased for 0.00 mg/L to 0.005 mg/L)
-email from Digby Health Coalition on a meeting the had March 11th. Had been submitted to commissioners prior to the meeting. No one attended.

Financial Reports: An updated financial report was presented by Clerk Treasurer. Approved on motion by Commissioner Raymond, seconded by Commissioner Doucet. It was noted again that with the departure of both the Nurse Practitioner and the VON that rental income will decline substantially unless replacement tenants can be found.

New Business:
- Chair Gaudett and Dr Curtis have met with Melanie Mooney to discuss options, including have Nurse Practitioner use the village meeting room to re-establish her group clinics
- Dr Curtis and Dr Westby are attending a doctor recruitment meeting in Halifax in hopes of attracting a second doctor for the clinic.
- The proposal to try to find a way to transfer the old recording office to the NEw France Society has been well received. Chair Gaudett has obtained contact details for our new Municipal advisor and will follow up on how or if we can proceed.
-Following discussion on the commissions continuing support of the fire departments annual July 1st fireworks program it was moved by Commissioner Frizzell, 2nd by Commissioner Raymond "that the village commission provide $500 toward this years fireworks display" Motion Carried

There being no further business meeting was adjourned at 8:35 on motion Commissioner Doucet.
