Minutes of Meeting of Weymouth Board of Commissioners

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Village of Weymouth was held on September 12, 2022 in the meeting room at the Medical Centre with Commissioners Theriault, Gaudett, Frizzell, and Mullen present, as well as, Dorothy Doucette as an interested party.

Meeting was called to order by the Chair at 7:00 pm.

The minutes of the meeting of June 6th, 2022 were approved as presented on motion by Commissioner Frizzell and seconded by Commissioner Theriault.

Business Arising out of the Minutes:
-VON rental space – see new business.

Correspondence:
-e-mail notice of annual meeting of Association of NS Villages is scheduled for Sept 17th, 2022 in Bible Hill, as well as, notice that a Code of Conduct is being prepared for all elected councillors and village commissioners.
-Letter from Town of Annapolis Royal inviting us to participate in an enhanced signage project.
-Invitation to participate in 7th Annual Richard Ellis Memorial Golf tournament

Financial Reports: An updated financial report was presented by Clerk Treasurer. Approved on motion by Commissioner Mullen seconded by Commissioner Theriault

New Business:
-Chair advised that the Digby Clare Home Care Society has agreed to lease the entire former VON section of the lower level of the Medical Centre for a new Senior Care Program. Lease has been prepared to commence on November 1st and to run for one year terms and with renewal subject to funding. In this connection it was Moved my Commissioner Frizzell, Seconded by Commissioner Mullen that the commission Chair be authorized to sign the new lease. Motion carried.
-Also in connection with both current and new section HomeCare will be installing three heat pumps, at their expense. They have requested that the Commission repair/replace the existing rain gutter system in advance of the heat pump installation. Clerk authorized to contact Clare Seamless Gutters to have installed.
-Commissioner Theriault noted that driveway is once again in need of replacement gravel. Clerk was authorized to obtain suitable gravel. Commissioner Theriault will do the necessary repairs.

Following regular business session a lengthy discussion ensued covering various topics around village improvements and the efforts of the various groups to improve the overall imagine of the village.

Regular Commission meetings will continue to be held on the first Monday of the month. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8.35 on motion Commissioner Frizzell seconded by Commissioner Mullen.
