Welcome to our community!

Weymouth is a small village located on rolling hills banking the Sissiboo River in Digby County, Nova Scotia.  Settled in 1783 by British Loyalists, the area has long been known for its rich resources based industries as well as its diverse blend of cultures including Mi’kmaq, British Loyalists, African Canadian and Acadian.  While the Village proper is very small, the Greater Weymouth Area (GWA) encompasses many smaller neighboring communities from exits 27 & 28 on Hwy 101 to areas south-east reaching to trunk routes #1and #340 as well as areas east of the mouth of the Sissiboo River.

Weymouth has a great deal to offer visitors, residents and industry.  The unmistakable natural beauty of Highway #1 – the Evangline Trail – leading into Weymouth is marked by the mature maple trees, rugged beauty of the river and scenic views of the mouth of Saint Mary’s Bay.  Recreational and cultural opportunities can keep visitors busy for several days in the area exploring our eco-tourism, viewing local artists’ exhibits, attending one of many annual festivals/events nearby or enjoying a drive to view the rich inventory of Victorian and Georgian style homes- many of which have been restored and painted in historic colors.

Residents enjoy a quality of life including affordable housing, great schools, strong community spirit and opportunities for employment.  Industry will benefit from a strong governmental resource support system, banking, labour pool, building and land availability as well as access to key transportation systems.

Come visit Weymouth and discover a gem where the river meets the sea!
